WORLD DIABETES DAY: CREATING WORKPLACES THAT SUPPORT EVERY JOURNEY
Every year on November 14, the world comes together to mark World Diabetes Day - a global call to raise awareness about diabetes, promote prevention, and support those living with the condition.
But beyond awareness, this day reminds us of something deeply human: the importance of understanding, inclusion, and support in our everyday environments, especially at work.

Understanding Diabetes
Diabetes affects over 500 million adults worldwide, a number expected to rise sharply in the coming years. Yet, behind the statistics are colleagues, friends, and family members who manage this chronic condition daily.
People with diabetes often need to:
- Monitor blood glucose levels throughout the day.
- Take medication or insulin at specific times.
- Maintain balanced meals and snacks to avoid glucose highs and lows.
- Manage stress, which can affect glucose control.
When workplaces understand and accommodate these needs, they don’t just comply with health and wellness practices, they foster a culture of empathy and inclusion.
For diabetic patients, regular blood testing is crucial to manage and maintain their blood sugar level. Diatron’s clinical chemistry reagent portfolio includes Glucose Oxidase as well as Hexokinase, but most importantly HbA1c with an on-board lysing - to monitor and control diabetes effectively. While glucose reflects a momentary reading, HbA1c represents the average blood sugar over the past two to three months.
All Diatron’ kits are dedicated and validated on our Pictus Family platforms.
