CELEBRATING 35 YEARS OF INNOVATION: A MILESTONE JOURNEY

Diatron is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, and what a journey it's been! From our roots with three visionary engineers in Budapest, Hungary, Diatron became part of the STRATEC Group and grown into a global company with over 350 employees.

Our extensive hematology and clinical chemistry portfolio has reached distributors worldwide, creating a significant impact on healthcare. Our product families—Abacus, Aquarius and Pictus—are the cornerstones of our growth and development.

Let’s look back at some of the key milestones that have shaped our history.

1989: The Beginning

Our story began in 1989, with the foundation of the company. From the outset, Diatron aimed to revolutionize the medical diagnostics field with cutting-edge technology and unwavering dedication to quality.

1989 - 2002: Pioneering Developments

The 1990s and early 2000s were a period of rapid development and groundbreaking innovations:

A 4-channel coagulometer has been introduced, setting a new standard in diagnostic testing.

The Hemotest (HGB meter) and semi-automatic cell counters were developed, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
Our first semi-automatic series entered serial production, marking a significant step forward.

The Abacus automated analyzer has been developed, followed by its serial production in 1999.

Achieving the ISO 9001 quality certificate was a testament to our commitment to quality.

The Abacus Junior, a 3-part differential human analyzer capable of 30 tests/hour, was introduced.

2003: Expanding Horizons

In 2003, the Abacus Junior VET has been launched, our first veterinary analyzer. This 3-part differential veterinary analyzer, capable of 30 tests/hour and designed for 8 species, broadened our market reach.

2005 - 2007: Advanced Innovations

2005: The Abacus Junior 5, a reagent-based 5-part differential analyzer with closed tube sampling, was introduced, alongside the development of the Abacus 5 laser system.

2007: The Abacus 3 has been launched, featuring the first color LCD for a 3-part human analyzer, the Abacus Junior Vet 5, and the Pictus 400 clinical chemistry analyzer.

2008 - 2012: Expansion and Recognition

2008: Introduction of the Pictus 200 and Pictus 700 clinical chemistry analyzers.

2009 - 2012:
The Abacus 5, a 60 tests/hour optical 5-part differential analyzer with an optional autosampler, was introduced. We achieved the ISO 13485 quality certificate, introduced our first reagent lock system, gained FDA clearance for Abacus 5 and Abacus 3CP, and penetrated the US human medical market.

Opening of our office in the US, Miami.

The whole company moved to a new facility in Budapest to our current headquarter.

The production of Clinical Chemistry analyzers has started.

2013 - 2015: Broadening Our Portfolio

A new Clinical Chemistry Reagent portfolio and new versions of the Abacus 3CP and Abacus 3CT analyzers has been launched.

The Pictus 500 bench top Clinical Chemistry system was also introduced.

2016: Strategic Acquisition

In 2016, Diatron has been acquired by STRATEC SE, a move that further strengthened our position in the market. STRATEC SE designs and manufactures fully automated analyzer systems for its partners in the fields of clinical diagnostics and life sciences. Furthermore, the company offers complex consumables for diagnostic and medical applications.

2017 - 2023: Continued Innovation

2017 - 2018: The Diatron Aquila was introduced, and STRATEC ELISA and CLIA Instrumentation has been added to our portfolio.

2020: Introduction of the KleeYa system, showcasing our continuous innovation.

2022: Launch of the Aquarius 3, further expanding our hematology product range.

2023: Our presence worldwide has been expanded and a new Diatron office has been opened in the APAC region, New-Delhi. It is a place not just for meetings but also a center of excellence for trainings with technical support team and showroom for our analyzers.

As we celebrate 35 years of achievements, we are grateful for our dedicated team, loyal customers, and partners who have been instrumental for the company’s success.

Diatron is looking forward to the future with optimism, ready to continue our legacy of innovation and excellence in the medical diagnostics industry.
